A MINHA FOTOGRAFIA
Esta apresentação mostra imagens do Continente Africano, mais concretamente da vida selvagem e das paisagens dos países que conheci ao longo da minha já longa carreira profissional, parte obtidas com câmaras analógicas e outras, mais recentes, que já são fruto de câmaras digitais, cuja tecnologia veio claramente facilitar a tarefa de quem se dedica à fotografia. Daí a diferença que se notará na qualidade do meu trabalho.
Fotografar a vida selvagem Africana não é tarefa fácil. Os animais nem sempre permitem aproximações que garantam qualidade fotográfica e, além disso, quando o objectivo são os bichos convencionalmente considerados feras, a reacção destes pode ser muito diferente daquela que é conhecida e tida como normal, o que, como é óbvio, poderá acarretar sérias consequências.
É evidente que o meu trabalho fotográfico foi facilitado pela carreira profissional que abracei. Estar em contacto directo com a Natureza Africana permitiu-me aprender a identificar as reacções dos animais, quer as mais comuns, quer as pouco previsíveis na presença do ser humano, um privilégio que não está ao alcance de todos os amantes da fotografia vocacionada para a vida selvagem.
Dentro das minhas limitações e apesar de reconhecer que não estou a apresentar um trabalho com cariz profissional, sinto uma satisfação enorme em partilhar as “minhas” imagens com quem se interessa pelos maravilhosos animais e pelas cores únicas do Continente Africano.
MY FOTOGRAPHY
This photograpg show is dedicated to the African Continent, mainly to the wild life and landscapes from the countries where I have been working during my already long professional career. Part of the photos were taken with analogic cameras and others belonging to the digital era, enabling modern technology.
It’s important to mention that I am not a professional photographer and, as an amateur, I can’t dominate all the technics which allow perfect shots. It’s also important to mention that I never used top quality equipment which, often, replaces the technical knowledge.
Wild life photography isn’t an easy task at all. The wild animals do not always allow the desired range of action and when the objective is the dangerous game, the photographer must be aware of animal reactions which might be totally different from the normal ones and might lead to serious accidents.
My photography work has been obviously facilitated by the experience gained during my professional career and the long time spent in the bush. Being close to Nature I learned about the vast fauna, observing the different wild animals behaviours and knowing when danger is part of the game.
So, although I realize that I am not showing a professional work, I feel a great pleasure in sharing my memories with whom is also interested in the fantastic African Continent, the marvelous wild animals and the beautiful and unique colours of Africa.
INFORMAÇÃO
Preparei uma colecção de mil e oitenta fotografias sobre África, suas gentes, seus animais selvagens e suas deslumbrantes paisagens, número demasiadamente grande para ser incluído neste site. Por essa razão, agrupei-as em apresentações de duzentas e setenta imagens que serão mostradas e substituidas regularmente.
Para protecção do uso indevido destas fotografias, recorri a marcas d'água.
As minhas desculpas
pelo inconveniente que isso possa causar a quem dedicar algum tempo a ver estas memórias Africanas.
INFORMATION
I organized a collection of one thousand and eighty photographs about Africa, its people, the wild animals and its scenery of surpassing beauty, a number excessively big to be included in this site all at one go. This is why I divided it in series of two hundred and seventy photos each, which will be shown and replaced time to time.
To protect from unauthorized users,
I watermarked all the photos.
My apologies to whom will eventually
dedicate some time looking at these
African memories.
